In this new episode of Social PR Secrets, host Lisa Buyer chats with Sarah Collins, Vice President of Social PR at the Buyer Group. Lisa and Sarah have been working together on-and-off for over ten years and their experiences have informed how they handled the difficult past few months. When asked how people can best adapt to working from home, Sarah says movement and exercise are the number one things you should carve out time for. Doing detox and cleanses also make Sarah’s self-care list while stuck at home.
When it comes to PR, Sarah explains that authenticity is more important than ever. She is glad to be seeing content creators adapting to the pandemic and making vertical videos using iphones. She also stresses the importance of customer retention for businesses. She says that because social media was developed as a way to connect friends together, the best way for brands to keep their customers is to treat them as they would treat their friends. On the topic, Lisa also suggests that brands build personal relationships with their clients by making Facebook groups for different levels of customers.
Sarah also emphasizes the benefits of writing down your thoughts and ideas as soon as you get them. You can go back to them later and figure out if they’re good before moving forward too fast. Lisa adds that personal journaling is one of the many personal development techniques you can translate to business development.
Additionally, Sarah and Lisa discuss the new coronavirus developments in their respective home states and share what businesses can learn from these difficult times. Sarah sheds light on why posting the right words at the right time is one of the most important social PR strategies in times of crisis.
